Is Gossip Just Whispered Bullying?

I remember when I heard about Amanda Todd. I cried when I saw her last video. Such a beautiful child that had the whole world ahead of her. She was bullied to death.

Bullying has changed since I was a kid. We didn’t have the technology for the bullying to go viral. We as humans tend to engage in gossip at times. When you talk bad about someone, it is what I called whispered bullying. They may not know you are talking about them, but God does.

“But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:44-45 NIV

When I heard about Amanda Todd’s suicide, I cried and became angry and even wished death on those that caused it. I had to tell myself that it is not my place. God will take care of it.

If possible,so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” Romans 12:18-19

Christians have been bullied and killed for their believes. This has gone on for years. People will persecute you for having something that they don’t have. God tells us not to worry. He has got our back.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in Heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matthew 5:11-12 NIV

  1. Your post made me think of Ephesians 4:29. I pray everyone speak things that are edifying to the listener. There’s enough bad news out there. Let us be the good news!
