Greater Is He

I remember as a kid when I was told to be not of this world. The basis for materialism is that the universe gives us all that God is. There are many philosophers and scientists that have set out to prove that God does not exist.

Faith is believing in the unseen and living in it. Then and only then will God be revealed. With God working in our lives, we can’t help but to feel his glory.

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world, and therefore speak the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 1 John 4:4-5

We are from God. We need to see the world through the eyes of God. We do not need to see God through the eyes of the world. The only way to see the world through God’s eyes is reading, believing, and living out God’s Word.

We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood. 1 John 4:6 NIV

  1. Does this mean we are to serve others and not strive to have nice things for ourselves? That thinking seems out of balance to me. I see nothing wrong with serving god and having material things to enjoy with loved ones and others. That doesn’t mean money is the sole motivating factor in our lives. Service warrants blessings of all kinds.

    1. I agree that we have material things and there are nothing wrong. God is a provider. The problem for me is when my love of material things trumped everything else in my life. God does want us to have things and glorify him in the process. Just my take on it. 😀

      1. Yes, serving god and his people come first. Material things come after that in fact, in my life I experienced myself, when you commit your work to god, material things will be added to you. You need not chase after them, they just come. The mission and ministering to souls is far more important!
