Surely he took our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5 NIV
Isaiah was a prophet. God gave him the power to predict things. This is him predicting what Jesus would go through for us. Jesus was hated. He was spit upon. He was violently tortured and beaten. His flesh was ripped. He went through immense and unimaginanable pain.
He could have given it up, but stuck with God’s plan. He could have sent angels down to save him, but he didn’t. He remained faithful. He said: Your will, father. Not my own.
Jesus was obedient and faithful to God and to us. His pain became our inheritance. The Crucifixion means so much. Our old self died and our new life in Christ was manifested.
…and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. Colossians 1:12 NIV
