Prayer Series: Part 1

Moses replied, “When I have gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands in prayer to the Lord. The thunder will stop and there will be no more hail, so you may know that the earth is the Lord’s. Exodus 9:29 NIV

Prayer is a powerful thing. We have thunder in our lives and rain and lightning and hail in our life. In Texas, during tornado season, it can call for extra prayer. Mosees would lift his hands in prayer and yet they still wouldn’t believe.

Being in the Word is an important part of being a Christian. It takes prayer to get in the word. It takes the Lord letting the Holy Spirit intercede for us to comprehend his word and gain wisdom.

So how do you pray? You pray as if God is right beside you, because He is. You call on the name of Jesus when he is already there. Just pray as if you are having a conversation with your best friend, because in actuality, you are.

Just like the Holy Spirit will reveal God’s Word, it will also give you the words you need during prayer. No drug that I have ever done in my younger days compares to how God makes me feel. There is no comparison. Praise be to God.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Roman 8:26-27 NIV
