In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. Psalms 31:1-2 NIV
David was known for praising God. This is a distinct verse that demonstrates a hunger for God. He is crying out. Make me righteous Lord!
Rescue me! Hear my cry, Oh Lord! Be my rock and a solid foundation to stand on. Sometimes you have to have faith and put it right on the line and cry out: Jesus, I need you!
Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. Psalms 31:3-4 NIV
This is when he declared: Lord, you are my rock and my fortress! He had faith that God was going to be his rock and fortress. He is pleading for guidance. He is asking to be led (once again) into righteousness.
The enemy is out to get us and will set daily traps to try to ensnare us. God is our fortress and Jesus is our Rock! Satan quivers and cowards at the very name of: Jesus. We need to commit ourselves for Jesus committed to us when He died for our sins and was risen, that our Faith shall be risen too!
Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God. Psalms 31:5 NIV
