The Move: Part 3

I had many experience with the farms in Delta Junction Alaska, which housed multiple communal farms. We lived in Fairbanks, so we went to a Nazerene Church and later, a non-denominational church.

When I was 12, I was visiting Mt. Bether Bible Center, a communal farm in Hoonah Alaska. It was there that I learned to play the guitar and where I started to preach. I received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Even though they meet the definition of a cult, they still taught the truth.

When I was 25, I returned to the farm for a visit as an adult, I did not have a great experience. Everything that you did or thought had to be approved by a group of elders. They would not let me preach or give my testimony because me talking about my past drug use would cause the 3 kids on the farm to want to use drugs too.

The farms had conventions which were 3 full days of preaching by the traveling ministry. As a kid, I could not stand 8 hours of preaching. As I look back, I see all the wisdom I gained. As a kid, you have a brain that is a sponge. It soaks up everything.

Do not get me wrong, there are so many great people in the Move. I learned so much from my grandpa. I am speaking out against the legalism and controlling factors of the Move. I give them full credit for developing my Faith.
