The Flesh And The Spirit

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus,2 because the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2 CSB

This is what you call the good news. The good news that we all need to hear. When we are saved in Christ, we are set free from the law of death and sin. When we follow Him, there is no condemnation.

We were all once condemned and sentenced to death by our sins. The law of the Spirit trumps the law of sin and death. We are declared righteous before God the Father. All because God loved us so much that He sent His Son to die on the cross to commence our Salvation.

3 What the law could not do since it was weakened by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh as a sin offering, 4 in order that the law’s requirement would be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:3-4 CSB

God’s grace is powerful. It is our saving grace. We cannot remain close to God if we are constantly yielding to the flesh. When we are saved, we want to please God. We want to please Jesus. We want to please the Holy Spirit. We have to shift our wants and needs into God’s will.

5 For those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their minds set on the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5 CSB

We live in a sinful world and Satan is alive and well and working in this world. It is so easy to stray without a firm foundation in the Word. When we seek the Word, we are guided by the Holy Spirit. We are not of the flesh anymore. We are in the Spirit of God. Let us be examples so others will see.
